One weight training session doesn’t always burn as many calories after one workout as cardio. However, if you really want to change your body and make a difference, you need to lift weights.
Lifting develops strong bones. By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. We want you to age gracefully. Weight training can improve your skin, hormonal profile, and mental clarity. In our programs, we incorporate exercises to increase your balance and mobility. At the Pembroke Fitness Centre our certified staff will design a program to improve your posture, gain bone density, maintain weight loss, boost your metabolism and help you reach your fitness goals. Your bones need to stay challenged, just like your brain needs to exercise to stay sharp. After age 30, if you’re not strength training you start to lose bone density at a small percent each year. Resistance training creates force on the bone and helps it stay strong. Weight training improves heart health by producing a different pattern of blood vessel responses than other aerobic activity such as walking or running. Strong healthy back muscles are very important. Muscles in your back help keep your spine moving. If your back is weak or you have weak abdominal muscles, you could be more prone to back strain. Our certified personal trainers can teach you simple, specific weight lifting and strengthening exercises to maintain good back health or reduce pain.
